Sunrise Students Return to Dance Floor Spotlight

The 'Dancing Classroom' program returns to transform understandably awkward fifth graders into confident and respectful young ladies and gentlemen who could also waltz and swing dance with ease and grace.

Sunrise Elementary School teacher Marsha Henderson shared a few photos with Patch from a dance showcase Friday in which the fifth graders demonstrated some new moves they learned through the 'Dancing Classrooms' program.

This is the second year the program has been offered at the school. Henderson spoke with Patch about it during last year's dance showcase and shared that the program was as much about dancing as it was enforcing values of respecting one another.

Last year, the students practiced twice a week in 45-minute segments for 10 weeks. Click here to see footage from last year's showcase.
