Now returned from the 2016 World Robotics Championship at St. Louis, Tahoma Robotics Club is looking forward to hosting a booth at Maple Valley Days. Kids, parents, and interested passersby will take the controls and drive small robots, picking up whiffle balls and dropping them into receptacles. The club's award winning competition robot, XCalibear, will be in the Saturday morning parade and later on display at the club's booth.
Maple Valley Days is also a great opportunity for kids, ages 8-14 to sign up for the Summer Robotics Camp. At the 5-day camp, kids will form teams and build robots, gaining design experience and learning modern robotics technology. On the last day of camp, teams will compete to see which robot is the best performer. The camp will run from June 20th to the 24th at Tahoma Senior High School. Stop by the club's booth, or visit tahomarobotics.org, for more information.
At the FIRST World Championship in St. Louis, Tahoma Robotics Club team Bear Metal competed among the best teams in the world. The team placed in the top third within their division, and together with alliance members Error Code Xero from Oregon and Holy Cows from California rose to the quarterfinals. In competition, Bear Metal demonstrated one of the best autonomous programs, setting the highest score among Pacific Northwest teams.
