Take Me Out To the Ballgame

Baseball season is starting and makes for a perfect grown-up escape.

It’s here folks -- quite possibly one of the best times of year for many a sport fan: baseball season is starting.

Friday, April 8Β marks our Seattle Mariners'Β home-opener against the Cleveland Indians in the start of a six-day home stand.Β  I can’t think of a better way to spend a cool spring night than under the bright lights of Safeco Field – garlic fries in hand.

Contrary to what you might believe, the ballpark makes for an incredibly great date night.Β  Guys get sports and food.Β  Girls getΒ the city,Β people watching, shopping (check out all that new throwback merch in the team store!), sports, athletesΒ AND food.Β  Win-win.

And to make the night at the park even more memorable, Safeco Field has re-invented the Bullpen Marketplace to include eats by top culinary masters and provide food on another level, making β€œThe Pen” a destination within the ballpark.Β  The new food concepts include: Apizza with Chef Bill Pustari, Flying Turtle Cantina/Tortugas Voladoras with Chef Roberto SantibaΓ±ez and bothΒ Hamburg + Frites and La CrΓͺperie, Authentic Parisian CrΓͺpes with Chef Ethan Stowell.

Enjoy the opening of the season with grown-ups and fellow fans and leave the kiddies at home. Taking one for the team doesn’t mean settling forΒ hot dogsΒ this season.

*Hot tip?Β  Avoid parking hassles on high attendance games by taking either the Sounder from Sumner station on the weekendsΒ or, parking in Sea Tac and taking the uber convenient Light Rail.Β
