Want An Arby's Elk Sandwich? It's Only A 12-Hour Drive Away

Only 3 Arby's across the U.S. will carry the elk sandwich. Washington is closer to one of those locations than you might think.

PUYALLUP, WA - In 2016, Arby's offered a limited-edition venison sandwich at five locations across the U.S. The venison sandwich is back this year, but the chain will offer it at every restaurant (in limited quantities). Arby's has come up with an even more niche limited-edition sandwich for 2017: it's made out of elk.

This year, only three Arby's will carry the elk sandwich beginning Oct. 21, and one of them is closer to Puget Sound than most other places in the U.S.

The closest location that will serve the sandwich is in Billings, Mont. That's just a scenic 12-hour drive straight across I-90.

Is the sandwich worth the drive? Here's how Arby's describes it: "The sandwich features a tender elk

steak topped with blackberry port steak sauce and crispy onions on a toasted specialty roll."

All three locations serving the elk sandwich are west of the Rockies (Casper, Wyoming, and Thornton, Colo., are the other two). Or if you're a hunter, you can stay here in Washington and get your own elk: hunting season began Aug. 1 and runs through about the end of December.
