Biggest Accomplishment: It probably won't be Lori's biggest accomplishment in her young life, but this young lady, along with two friends, are to make 1,000 paper cranes and along with asking for a $1 donation per crane, in hopes of donating that money to the Japanese Red Cross to support relief efforts after the devastating earthquake last month.
Lori got the idea from a friend in the Tacoma Youth Symphony who is doing the same thing at a Tacoma school. But this isn't her first foray into community service.Β With her church group she packaged food at the food bank and did yard work for the elderly. She even helped out on a farm in Australia.

βThat was eye-opening; it made me want to help people,β she told Patch in an earlier interview. βPeople are the same everywhere; they just try to differentiate.β
Lori earned that trip to Australia thanks to excellent test scores that was recognized through People to People. She has also been featured in the Who's Who directory of American high school students.
Key to Awesomeness: Β "It's character traits," she said. "You should be a nice person and forthcoming and someone who cares about others and not about themselves."
More on Lori: Check out our video of Lori earlier this week demonstrating to the Key Club how to fold a proper crane.Β
