Today's riddle: What do you call a belt that is made of watches? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Walter Smith (blogspot.com) — Everett readers are remembering Walter Thomas Smith, a longtime Boeing worker who transferred to the Everett 747 program and raised two sons who still live in Everett. His funeral was just held at Evergreen Funeral Home on Broadway, and he'll be laid to rest beside his wife in Missouri this Saturday, with arrangements handled by Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home.
2. Everett Police ask for public help locating runaway teen (everettpost.com) — Everett Police are asking residents to help locate Jocelyn "Joci" Mora, a 4'10" Hispanic teen who left Everett High School on Monday and was seen getting into a black Subaru Crosstrek-style vehicle around 10:35 a.m. She was last seen in a navy Aero sweatshirt, dark pants and Nike Air Force sneakers; anyone with information is urged to call the Everett Police tipline at 425-257-8450.
3. Everett proposes major changes to B&O tax code (heraldnet.com) — Everett is considering major changes to its B&O tax code that would exempt about 6,500 small businesses, cut rates for many retailers and restaurants, and raise rates for manufacturing, service and wholesale firms. Most of the new revenue, roughly $2.5–$2.9 million a year, would help fund the proposed downtown Outdoor Event Center stadium, with additional money supporting business assistance and commercial district grants.
4. Everett business owner seeks expansion with USL sports ownership group (everettpost.com) — Everett leaders are backing a local ownership group to bring a United Soccer League team to a new $120 million Everett Outdoor Events Center downtown, sharing facilities with the AquaSox. Mayor Cassie Franklin highlighted Apex Everett owner John Carswell's role and said the project aims to boost the local economy, add entertainment options, and give residents another hometown team to rally around.
