1 Man, 7 Hours, 2 Arrests Near Gig Harbor

GIG HARBOR, WA - For a majority of people, getting arrested is a pretty rare event. But for one local man, a single arrest wasn't enough. Pierce County deputies picked him up twice on Wednesday for two separate crimes.

Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, deputies working with the Peninsula Detachment were notified about a suspicious person in a pickup truck parked at an abandoned house in a neighborhood north of McCormick Forest Park. When the deputies arrived, they saw a pickup driving away, and so they pulled it over to talk to the driver.

The 30-year-old man admitted he drank a number of shots of 99 Oranges liquor. The man told the deputies he was parked at the abandoned house because it belonged to a relative and he was "looking for memories." He also told police that he had to get going to pick up his daughter from school.

The deputies arranged for another relative to pick up the girl, and they took the 30-year-old to the Gig Harbor police station where he blew well above the legal limit on two separate BAC tests. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

A couple of hours later around 10 p.m., deputies got a call about a domestic disturbance north of Gig Harbor. That's when the deputies discovered that it was connected to the same 30-year-old picked up at the abandoned house.

The man's father had picked the 30-year-old up from the hospital, and they got into verbal a fight, police said. That led to the 30-year-old shoving his father and threatening to kill him.

And that led police to arresting him a second time on fourth-degree assault.

He was taken to the Pierce County Jail, and there simply wasn't enough time left in the day for him to get arrested again.
