Woman's Bound Found After Gig Harbor Duplex Fire

The fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. in the Canterwood area, according to Gig Harbor Fire.

GIG HARBOR, WA — A woman's body was found in the wreckage of a duplex fire in the Canterwood area Thursday morning, according to Gig Harbor firefighters.

Gig Harbor fire crews responded to near Firdrona Drive Northwest and Peacock Hill Avenue Northwest in the Canterwood area around 11:30 p.m. to find one side of the home fully engulfed. The fire damaged the home's structure, which delayed firefighters in searching the building for the missing woman.

"Because the structure is unstable and partially collapsed, heavy equipment will need to be brought in to complete the search for the missing person and start the fire investigation," Gig Harbor fire wrote in a Facebook post.
