10 Injured In Crash On The Purdy Sand Spit Near Gig Harbor
Several people were hospitalized after a crash on Highway 302 in Pierce County Wednesday night.

GIG HARBOR, WA — Ten people were injured, including several children, after a crash on Highway 302 in Pierce County Christmas night. Key Peninsula Fire responded to the scene on the Purdy Sand Spit shortly before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, with help from neighboring agencies in Gig Harbor and South Kitsap. Among the 10 injured, firefighters said nine had to be taken to the hospital. KING 5 reported several of the people injured were children.
The extent of their injuries has not been released, but Key Peninsula Fire said all ten people were able to get out of the vehicles on their own. The Seattle Times reports both directions of Highway 302 were blocked for two hours before tow trucks removed the vehicles. According to the News Tribune, four cars were involved in the collision. Details on what led to the crash were not immediately available.
