2-Alarm Fire Hits Gig Harbor Home
Firefighters from Tacoma and the Kitsap Peninsula responded to help put out the fire.

GIG HARBOR, WA - A fire at a home in Kopachuck Monday night triggered a large response from around the region. Firefighters from Key Peninsula, West Pierce, South Kitsap, and Tacoma all helped Gig Harbor handle the fire.
According to Gig Harbor fire, the blaze broke out in the chimney of the home. The residents were asleep at the time the fire broke out, but were woken up by smoke detectors. The fire did spread from the chimney to the roof, however
Gig Harbor sounded a second alarm because water had to be shuttled to the scene from a fire hydrant near Voyager Elementary School. Firefighters from West Pierce and Kitsap back-filled Gig Harbor firefighters in case something happened while they were at the Kopachuck fire.

There were no injuries reported during the fire.
