Second Gig Harbor Teen Killed In Car Crash

Peninsula High School cancelled classes Monday after a second death due to car accident.

GIG HARBOR, WA - For the second time in less than a week, a Peninsula High School student has died in an accident. James Oatridge, of Gig Harbor, was the passenger in a Honda Civic that collided with a Ford pickup truck Sunday morning near the line between Pierce and Kitsap counties,Q13 reported. Peninsula High School officials said in a statement that classes will be canceled Monday, but the school will remain open for students who want to meet with counselors and have "a day of togetherness."

A GoFundMe page was started in Oatridge's memory. The money raised will go toward Oatridge's family.

"James was a light in the lives of everyone he ever encountered," the page started by Tad Reasons states. "His attitude, humor and positivity were contagious. It is so sad that a young man with all of this potential was taken from this earth so soon. He will be sadly missed by his wonderful family and friends."

Kyle Stillion, a junior at Peninsula High School, died Thursday after being hit by a car while walking along Key Peninsula Highway. Police believe a 61-year-old driver drifted onto the shoulder, hitting Stillion. He was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Medical Center.
