84-year-old From Gig Harbor Injured After Car's Brakes Fail

The accident happened just before noon on Friday near Port Orchard.

PORT ORCHARD, WA - An 84-year-old man from Gig Harbor was injured in a Friday accident after the brakes on his car failed, according to Washington State Patrol.

The accident happened around 11:38 a.m. Friday at the Tremont Street exit in Port Orchard. According to state police, Glenn Hutchinson was driving his 1999 Buick Century westbound when he went to take the exit. That's when his car's brakes failed.

Hutchinson's car continued through the intersection at the end of the off-ramp and hit an embankment. The car was totaled and Hutchinson was taken to Harrison-Bremerton Hospital for treatment. There was no immediate word on his condition.
