• Mayor, council to get pay raises (gigharbornow.org) — Gig Harbor's independent Salary Commission has approved a 5% raise for the mayor and city council, bringing monthly pay to $2,415 for the mayor and $840 for each council member. Commissioners compared compensation with 12 other cities and weighed workload and city finances, noting Gig Harbor's regional role and a tight but stable budget outlook.
   

• 'Man or Mountain' ponders the final hours of a Northwest legend (gigharbornow.org) — Gig Harbor filmmaker Collin Monda is premiering his 15-minute film "Man or Mountain" at the Gig Harbor Film Festival, running Sept. 24–27, with screenings Thursday and Saturday in the Made In Washington block. The film imagines Mount St. Helens legend Harry Truman's final hours, blending local connections, Northwest history, and a live Q&A with cast, crew, and band Massy Ferguson.
   

• Seniors lift Timberline to road sweep at Gig Harbor (thurstonchronicle.com) — Timberline's senior-heavy volleyball squad swept Gig Harbor on the Tides' home court, winning 25-17, 25-17, and 25-14 behind dominant performances from several Blazer seniors. Despite the loss, the match highlighted Gig Harbor's young, scrappy roster and the kind of competition local fans can expect as league play continues across the Puget Sound region.
