Where Were You the Day the Towers Fell?

My tribute to the World Trade Center's families and all who have been impacted by the tragedy.

That is a question that will forever be asked. It marks a time when time stopped, when people were arrested by the news that rang out across the globe: The World Trade Center was attacked twice and that this time, it was more than a bomb in the lower section, it was a plane flying into the building. That's right, into the building.

I will never forget the day that I "saw" the news... yes, not heard, I saw it on Yahoo. At first I truly thought it was a joke....that someone photoshopped a plane into the picture...after all, who in their right mind would fly that low?

Then I heard the news, that yes, indeed it did happen and it happened twice. I remember being in Starbucks, in California an hour later and the place was abuzz.

People were watching television monitors and crying. I felt numb. Being from NY, and having watched the towers being built when I was in high school, has always put them as a special memoir of New York in my treasures of past memories.

Now the treasure was broken. And more than that, more than 3,000 lives were gone, and with them, so many more hurt and wounded.

No wonder, 10 years later, it's in the heart of all Americans to never forget and to pay tribute to those who were brave, those who lost their lives, those who sacrificed their lives to help others.

Where was I the day the towers fell? 3,000 miles away, approximately 1 mile for every life lost. But I was there in the spirit. I think every American was. May the folks who are hurting today be comforted by knowing our hearts are with you.
