Dogs Loose On SR 16 Rescued By State Police, 1 Hit By Car [UPDATE]
One of the dogs was hit by a car during the rescue on Monday.

UPDATE: Washington State Patrol reported that the dogs were taken to All Creatures Animal Hospital and Gorst, and then were transferred to the Kitsap Humane Society. We have unconfirmed reports that the owners have been located.
PORT ORCHARD, WA - State police are trying to find the owner of two dogs found wandering along SR 16 north of Gig Harbor.
The dogs were running across the highway near the Mullinex Road exit in Port Orchard on Monday, state patrol spokesman Todd Bartolac said. A trooper was able to rescue one of the dogs, and a Samaritan who stopped to help held on to the dog while the trooper went after the other one.

Unfortunately, the second dog was hit by a car crossing Mullinex Road. That dog underwent surgery, but Bartolac said it's unclear if the dog will survive. Bartolac is trying to track down where the dogs were taken so its owners can pick them up.
