Community Corner

Donkey Creek Chum Festival

This fun event with the funny name is back for it's sixth year. Join us at Skansie Park on Saturday, September 21st to learn more about activities and opportunities to improve natural resources that support healthy salmon populations.

Explore the net shed and learn about Gig Harbor's historic commercial fishing culture with the Coastal Heritage Alliance, or try your hand at fly fishing techniques with the Reel Fly Girls. Enter the giant salmon for storytelling, make a bird feeder out of recycled bottles, or master the art of gyotaku to recount your own tale about activities and behaviors you take to improve the environment. Enjoy a yummy salmon burger cooked up by Gig Harbor Kiwanis and the Fishermen's Club, and visit with the groups, agencies and individuals working toegether to promote stewardship and action.
