DUI Police Chase Ends In Gig Harbor

The chase started in Tacoma early Monday morning, according to Washington State Patrol.

GIG HARBOR, WA — A wild chase involving a suspected impaired driver ended early Monday morning in Gig Harbor, according to Washington State Patrol.

The incident began before 5:30 a.m. in Tacoma when police spotted the driver after an earlier hit-and-run. The driver took off down SR 16, where a state trooper deployed spikes, damaging the suspect's car.

But the driver kept going, eventually crashing near Olympic Drive Northwest. The driver was arrested there, but the incident forced the closure of Olympic Drive.
