Why Authors Write
With rare insight, four authors at the Alliance of Women Owned Businesses (AWOB) March 13th meeting will share some of the soul searching and thought process involved in their decision to write a book.  At an exciting new format for AWOB Power Series, a panel of local authors Jeannine McCurrie, Joy Peterson, Dennis Bauer, and Gloria Gilbère will describe how they became published authors, some of the pitfalls they’ve experienced, and how being an author can help grow a business. 
In addition to hearing about the benefits and challenges on the road to authorship, the panel will also share various methods of publishing and the benefits/disadvantages of each in our current business climate. The discussion intends to answer the question: Could Writing a Book be Good Strategy for Your Business?The moderator, Shirley Hansen, who has written nine books, will pose questions to the panel and then she will open it up to questions from the audience. In describing the program, Hansen noted, “We have gathered some incredible authors who write from very different perspectives. The audience is in for a real treat.”
AWOB’s Power Series meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at the Inn at Gig Harbor, 3211 56th St NW, Gig Harbor, WA. These meetings feature guest speakers, round tables or panels on topics of particular interest to female entrepreneurs. The meetings, which begin at 5:00, offer  unique opportunities to meet with other women business owners. Attendees will find the gathering is a great place to share challenges and experiences, and to walk away with information that will help take a business to the next level.
This event is free to AWOB members and first time guests – the fee for all others is $25, payable at the door. New members can sign up at the meeting.
A special feature of the Power Series meeting is the AWOB Meet Me After Hours, a no-host dinner, held after the meeting in the Inn at Gig Harbor restaurant. This casual one-on-one setting allows attendees to converse with the presenters and to continue networking with other women business owners in the area.
