The CMA award-winning songwriter of “Wide Open Spaces” (the Dixie Chicks took to the top for four weeks) has been hitting the road consistently over the past 14 years and touring nationally in support of her own brand of Texas-Americana-folk music. Susan will perform as part of the Americana Music Series produced by Michael ONeill and Morso on August 12, 2011 at 8 pm. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Morso 9014 Peacock Hill Ave, Gig Harbor WA 98332 or by calling Morso at 530-3463.
Gibson’s 2011 release, Tightrope, is both right at home with and a departure from her previous albums. While the album was recorded before her accident last year, the mood and tone are fitting of a year spent in reflection. The songs themselves are tried and true Susan Gibson, whose craftsmanship in songwriting has made her one of the most respected artists in the Texas scene and beyond. "I highly recommend it to anyone who likes acoustic music, This is the best sounding CD that I have heard this year, the sound quality is stunning, plus she has a set of ten very well written and performed songs," by Jim Moulton of No Depression.
