Guest Lecture Series: Cathy Stevulak "Threads: the Art and Life of Surayia Rahman"
With courage, tolerance, thread and needle, a self-taught Bangladeshi artist shared her skills with hundreds of destitute young women, stirring social change, empowering lives and helping to keep cultural traditions alive. Filmmaker Cathy Stevulak of Kantha Productions will talk about this remarkable woman, the forms of textiles of Bangladeshi, and the connection to art and culture. We will be showing a clip from the film “threads” and have samples of the textiles on display.
