Shellfish Class- Bivalves for Clean Water

Free class to learn more about oysters, clams, mussels and local water issues.


Join Marine Water Quality Specialist Teri King to learn more about oysters, clams, and mussels, and learn what you can do to promote and maintain a clean and safe
environment for them to thrive.  There will be in-class teaching as well as a fun and informative beach exploration. Participants will also have the chance to win free shellfish testing and to participate in Washington Sea
Grant’s State of the Oyster Study where they can have shellfish from their beaches tested for bacterial contamination.



Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Home Fire Station 47 from 9:30am to 12:30pm. There will be a field trip to Penrose park following the class. Ages 10 and up are welcome. Minimum class size is 10 people, so please RSVP by June 1. Dress for the weather and pack a lunch.
