Crash At Gig Harbor Panera Bread Shuts Down Businesses
A car accident at the Uptown shopping plaza caused an evacuation due to a possible gas leak.

GIG HARBOR, WA - A two-vehicle crash at the Uptown outdoor shopping plaza in Gig Harbor spurred an evacuation of several businesses Wednesday morning due to concern over a possible gas leak.
Gig Harbor police reported the crash just before 11:30 a.m. at the plaza along Point Fosdick Drive. The accident appeared to be near the Panera Bread restaurant, which is along the west side of the plaza off Point Fosdick.
Police photos from the scene show two cars involved: a garbage truck and a sedan. Police say there were no injuries in the crash. Gig Harbor police reported that the garbage truck was unattended and rolled backward, hit the car, and then continued rolling into a building.

The gas was shut off before noon, but police say several businesses - including the Panera - will remain closed due to damage.
