Geoduck Diver Dies In Puget Sound Off Fox Island
Gig Harbor and Pierce County personnel responded to the incident Tuesday afternoon.

FOX ISLAND, WA - Pierce County and Gig Harbor rescue personnel responded to the waters off of Fox Island Tuesday afternoon on a report of an unresponsive diver. The 36-year-old man was working as a diver on a commercial geoduck vessel. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office dive team got the man out of the water, and Gig Harbor Fire and Rescue transported him to a hospital in Tacoma where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Tacoma News Tribune, the incident happened about 100 yards out in Puget Sound off the west side of Fox Island near a Navy facility.
