Gig Harbor Lacrosse Drops North Kitsap Again

The Harbor Fire high school boys lacrosse team captured its fifth win of the season.

Gig Harbor's Nate Ashton netted 4 goals and grabbed 15 ground balls to lead Gig Harbor to its second win of the season over North Kitsap. The Harbor Fire boys high school lacrosse team defeated North Kitsap, 11-4, on Thursday at . The win was the fifth of the season for the Gig Harbor club.

Gig Harbor led from wire-to-wire, taking a 3-1 lead in the first and extending its advantage to 5-2 at the intermission. In the third the Fire netted another 4 goals before blanking North 2-0 in the final quarter.

Behind Ashton’s scoring and defensive play, Leif Drathman had a goal and 7 ground balls and Lucas Bantanian had 8 saves in the nets for Gig Harbor. Nick Stevens had 2 goals, Duncan Hack grabbed 5 ground balls and Chazz Zachroff had 16 save in goal for North Kitsap.

Gig Harbor won their previous meeting, defeating North 6-5 on April 8.

Gig Harbor (5-4-0) next faces Mt. Si (1-9-0), Saturday, April 23 in a 5 p.m. start at Mt. Si High School in Snoqualmie. North Kitsap (3-4-0) next faces Sammamish (11-1-0), Saturday, April 23 in a 3 p.m. start at Newport High School.
