Gig Harbor Library Will Offer Powerful Legal Tools For Free
Pierce County Law Library kiosk will open at Gig Harbor Pierce County Library.

GIG HARBOR, WA - From the Gig Harbor Library: Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula residents will soon be able to conduct authoritative legal research without traveling across the Narrows Bridge thanks to a partnership between the Pierce County Library System and Pierce County Law Library. A law library kiosk located inside Gig Harbor Pierce County Library, 4424 Point Fosdick Dr. N.W., opens to the public Thursday, June 14, with a kickoff event at noon.
“Partnering with the Pierce County Law Library will help Pierce County Library provide Gig Harbor, Purdy, Fox Island and Key Peninsula residents with legal resources without the burden of travel,” said Pierce County Library Executive Director Georgia Lomax. “Together, we’re increasing the legal literacy for Pierce County residents.”
A Pierce County Library card is not required to access the law library collection, which includes free access to electronic and printed resources:

“The Pierce County Law Library provides countywide convenient access to legal materials and reference services,” said Laurie Miller, director of the Law Library. “This new collaboration with the Gig Harbor Library extends these services across the bay so that distance will not interfere with access to justice services. Library users will find materials for use in criminal and civil litigation, and to assist with common personal and business needs. In the future, we hope to expand these services to other areas of Pierce County.”

The Pierce County Law Library at Gig Harbor Library is the first law library west of the Narrows Bridge since the Gig Harbor Municipal Court satellite location closed in 2006. Since then, Key Peninsula residents have had limited access to legal resources and have had to travel to downtown Tacoma.
The Gig Harbor Library is open Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday 1-5 p.m. People may access the law library kiosk during the same hours the full library is open.
