Gig Harbor Man Injured In Deadly Crash On SR 7

A Kent woman died when her SUV crash into a tree on Sunday afternoon.

LA GRANDE, WA - A 29-year-old Kent woman was killed and a Gig Harbor man was injured in a car versus tree collision Sunday afternoon along SR 7.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday along SR 7 near the University of Washington experimental forest, just a few miles north of Alder Lake. Joshua Hanson, 29, was driving northbound when his SUV left the road and crashed head-on into a tree.

His passenger, Diana Hays, died at the scene. Hanson was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment.

The crash blocked SR 7 for more than three hours, according to Washington State Patrol. Drugs or alcohol were not involved, police reported.
