Gig Harbor Panera Bread Crash: Driver Cited For Negligence
Gig Harbor police cited on of the drivers involved in Wednesday's crash at Panera Bread.

GIG HARBOR, WA - The driver of a truck that rolled into the Panera Bread at the Uptown shopping plaza has been cited, according to Gig Harbor police.
Chief Kelly Busey said Thursday that the driver of the garbage truck involved in the crash was cited for second-degree negligent driving.
The crash happened just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the shopping plaza along Point Fosdick Drive. Gig Harbor police reported that the unattended garbage truck rolled backward, hitting another vehicle and smashing into the side of the Panera Bread restaurant. The garbage truck driver allegedly did not set the parking brake.

The crash disrupted the morning routine at the plaza. Several businesses in the vicinity of Panera Bread were evacuated over concern about a natural gas leak. The restaurant remained closed due to damage. Patch.com has reached out to the company to get an update on the damage.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the crash, Gig Habor police said.
