Gig Harbor PD Bust Counterfeiters Flushing Fake $100 Down Toilet

Police also found counterfeit money printers and heroin at a Gig Harbor hotel.

GIG HARBOR, WA - Gig Harbor police on Monday interrupted a significant money counterfeiting operation at a local hotel. The officers went to the hotel to investigate a disturbance, but ended up catching a suspect flushing a fake $100 bill down the toilet.

Police went to the hotel around 8 p.m. Monday. Inside the room, they found a two men, one who had an outstanding felony warrant, the other wanted in a home invasion in University Place in December. They were both arrested.

Two women were also in the room, and after the men were arrested, they left a plastic container behind that contained drugs and counterfeit money. Police later found stolen checks in the room.

Later that night, police returned to the hotel to remove those two women. They were sitting in a parked car in the lot, and police determined the car had stolen plates attached. After police took the women into custody, the women admitted there was yet more counterfeit money in the trunk. Police also found money printers and four grams of heroin in the car.

Police also arrested two other suspects that night connected to the counterfeiters: a woman who was in possession of heroin, and a boyfriend of one of the women who had outstanding warrants.
