Group Delivers Tacoma Narrows Bridge Toll Increase Recommendation

The recommendation covers the 2018 fiscal year beginning July 1, 2017.

GIG HARBOR, WA - A group that makes recommends whether to raise tolls on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge is not recommending a toll increase in 2017, according to reports. This is the first time in five years the Tacoma Narrows Bridge citizens advisory committee has not recommended a toll increase.

However, the state Transportation Commission has the final say in whether tolls increase. Traffic across the bridge is expected to be enough to support its costs, the Tacoma News-Tribune is reporting. Officials say there's been an uptick in the number of commuters using the photo tolling option.

The last toll increase was in 2015 when the cost to cross the span went up by 50 cents.
