Tacoma, Wash. - If your family enjoys exploring new cultures and meeting new people, then you would be a great host family for an international student attending Charles Wright Academy for the upcoming academic school year.
Hosting an international student is an amazing opportunity to share your home with a resilient exchange student who is eager to learn about American culture and family life.
Charles Wright Academy is accepting applications for new host families for international students who will arrive in the fall. We’re looking for friendly people with a warm home life—and host families need not be enrolled at Charles Wright to host an international student. Past host families tell us they benefited from the experience as much as the students. In particular, they enjoyed:
• Sharing American culture
• Learning about a new culture and language
• Developing a lifelong friendship with an international student and his or her family
• Receiving a stipend of $10,000 for the academic year
All host families must pass a background check. Those selected, will bring students into their homes for an academic year, providing them with daily meals, a bedroom, transportation to and from school, and access to a computer. The international student maintains health insurance and pays for all other personal expenses while in the U.S. You can learn more by calling International Student Program director Ann Vogel at 253.620.8356 or e-mail avogel@charleswright.org.
