Man Killed In SR 16 Crash In Gig Harbor Identified

The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday near Burnham Drive Northwest.

GIG HARBOR, WA - A 20-year-old Eastern Washington man died early Saturday morning in a crash along SR 16 in Gig Harbor, according to state patrol.

Matthew Estelle of Jackson, which is southwest of Pullman, died after his Ford Mustang left the highway and crashed into a stand of trees.

According to state patrol, Estelle was driving westbound when he crossed lanes and hit a car being driven by Arthur Harvey, 63, of Tacoma. Estelle then drove into trees alongside the highway. The crash closed SR 16 westbound for about four hours Saturday morning.

Harvey was injured and taken to St. Anthony Hospital. Police believe excessive speed caused the crash.
