New Gig Harbor Post Office Location Picked - But Maybe Not
The new Gig Harbor post office location is picked out according to the USPS - but also maybe not, according to the USPS.

GIG HARBOR, WA - According to a letter sent to Mayor Jill Guernsey by the U.S. Postal Service, the location for a new Gig Harbor post office has been selected. However, a second USPS real estate representative recently told the Kitsap Sun that the postal service isn't ready to talk about the decision yet. According to the letter, the new post office would go in the commercial area off the Wollochet Drive exit from SR 16.
"After reviewing the sites and considering all the issues, the Postal Service has decided to select the property located at NWC of Grandview Street and Pioneer Way. We believe this new location will provide the community with an upgraded, modern facility that offers the level of service expected by our customers and is fairly close to the downtown area that meets all our needs," reads the letter to Guernsey from Greg Shelton, a real estate specialist for the USPS out of the Denver office.
The Kitsap Sun, meanwhile, spoke to a USPS real estate specialist in Seattle, Ernie Swanson, who told the paper the USPS is “not yet ready to share information on the Gig Harbor Post Office with the media yet. They are finalizing the details and conducting due diligence.”
On her page on the city's website, Guernsey said that she would provide updates on the situation as soon as they are available.
