Peninsula to Take On Eastside Catholic This Friday

After dominating the Tides in the annual Fish Bowl, Peninsula looks for another win against the Crusaders on Friday.

opened its promising 2011 campaign in a big way, blowing out cross-town rival 48-9 in the annual Fish Bowl game. New starting running back in that contest, racking up a career-high six rushing touchdowns to help the Seahawks to the victory. kicked three field goals for Gig Harbor in the game.

Next up for the Seahawks is Eastside Catholic of Sammamish. The Crusaders also opened their season with an explosive 63-20 win over Metro rival Cleveland. New Eastside Catholic head coach Jeremy Thielbahr has promised his team will play an attacking defense in 2011, which should make for an interesting matchup with the run-heavy Seahawks.

Peninsula will host Eastside Catholic at Roy Anderson Field on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. All Eastside Catholic games are broadcasted live by Game Time Northwest, so fans can catch the game at http://gametimenorthwest.com/team/eastside-catholic-crusaders-football.

The two schools are also combining for a food drive to benefit before the game, so all in attendance are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item.
