Although customers shopped throughout the store, it was the chicks that seemed to be the most magnetic draw of the day, especially for children. As adults talked care, feeding and egg-laying capabilities with sales people, their kids were more delighted by the fuzzy qualities of the baby birds.

The Gig Harbor store is Wilco's second retail outlet in Washington and the first new store opening it's had in a couple of years. The store was still bustling a couple of hours before closing time and Carroll was thrilled with Wilco’s first day of business in the community.
"It's been so busy all day," she said. "This could be one of our best openings ever."
