GIG HARBOR, WA — Two people are in custody after a home invasion, shooting and police chase on the Key Peninsula Friday morning. According to Pierce County Sheriff's Department, two suspects armed with several guns forced their way into a Lakebay home and shot a person inside, just after 5 a.m. Witnesses told deputies the suspects fled in a black Cadillac Escalade, which was spotted a few minutes later on State Route 302.

The sheriff's department said the SUV hit speeds over 80 mph driving over the Purdy Spit, then onto State Route 16, before exiting onto Olympic Drive in Gig Harbor. A deputy rammed the vehicle near the Forest Grove Apartments on 35th Avenue, bringing the chase to an end in a parking lot.

One suspect was arrested immediately, while the second person ran away. Investigators said a deputy shot at the suspect, but no one was hit. K9 units tracked the second suspect for almost two hours while nearby schools were placed on lockdown.
