Suspicious Package Found At Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton
Police say someone placed what looks like an explosive device just inside a gate to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

BREMERTON, WA — A suspicious package found near the gate to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard Thursday afternoon shut down ferry service and caused a lock-down at Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton.
According to the Kitsap Sun, personnel at and the shipyard were told to shelter in place. Bomb disposal personnel from the base were taking care of the suspicious package. The shelter-in-place order was partially lifted around 2:30 p.m.
According to Washington State Patrol, ferry service from Bremerton was set to resume at 4:15 p.m. Thursday. Bremerton police said a man was seen placing what appeared to be an explosive device near the PSNS.

According to the Naval Sea Systems Command, the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility provides the Navy with "maintenance, modernization, recycling and support." The shipyard is the region's largest Naval shore facility and one of the state's largest industrial installations.
The area of Pacific Ave south to the ferry terminal entrance is shut down for an incident involving a person placing what appears to be an explosive device just inside the Bremerton PSNS gate. Stay clear of the area for now.
