Possible Gig Harbor Boat Arson Under Investigation
Pierce County officials are investigating a fire that broke out last night in Gig Harbor.

GIG HARBOR, WA - Gig Harbor firefighters last night responded to a boat on fire in the middle of a local street. The fire is now being investigated as a possible arson by the Pierce County Sheriff's Office and the Pierce County Fire Marshal. According to Gig Harbor fiire, the boat was possibly stolen.
The fire department responded to the fire along the 8400 block of 104th Street Northwest at close to 1:30 a.m. Monday. The 30-foot boat was on a trailer in the middle of the street, said Gig Harbor Battalion Chief Lance O'Leary. Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, the department called Pierce County officials in to investigate. Gig Harbor police were not involved because the fire was technically outside of the Gig Harbor city limits.
The fire was put out quickly, O'Leary said, and no one was injured fighting the fire. The scene of the fire was close to where 104th/Sehmel Drive turns into 86th Avenue Northwest.
