Senior Living Community Takes to the Skies
Heron's Key Uses Drone to Capture Construction Progress

Heron’s Key an innovative Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with life care, is currently in development in the Gig Harbor area and taking to the skies to capture changes to the construction site. The community will use a popular remote-controlled helicopter-type drone fitted with a camera, to record a bird’s-eye-view of the community’s construction progress.
Now taking reservations for anticipated occupancy in 2017, Heron’ Key has enlisted the assistance of North Carolina-based Frogman Interactive, to capture aerial images of the planned site. During a recent photo shoot of the site Frogman directed the drone, known as an octocoptor because of its eight-rotor design, to take images of the current retention pond as well as the site itself from up to 300 feet in the air.
“We are excited about the use of the drone,” said Lisa Hardy, CEO of Heron’s Key. “The device will allow us to give visual updates to future residents, the community and the Heron’s Key marketing team at a much lower cost than traditional aerial photography.”
