Shady 'Real Progressive' Ads Target Gig Harbor Voters
A conservative group is asking Democrats across the state to vote for "real" progressives. Gig Harbor voters have received the ads.
GIG HARBOR, WA - A conservative-backed group called Conscience of the Progressives is sending out ads to Washington voters asking them to write-in "real" progressive candidates. The ads have been sent to voters in Gig Harbor in the 26th District state House race between incumbent Republican Jesse Young and Democrat Connie FitzPatrick.
The ads targeting Gig Harbor voters are asking voters to write-in Nathan Schlicher, a former Democratic state senator who hasn't served since 2014, and who definitely is not running in the 2018 election. The ad includes and image of FitzPatrick inside a red circle with a line across her face.
The chair of Conscience of the Progressives is Glen Morgan, a conservative activist who describes himself as a "frequent writer and speaker on property rights, the environmental movement, Big Government, and the importance of citizen activism." The treasurer of the group is Orin Wells, who has tried to become chairman of the King County Republican Central Committee.

Schlicher told the Kitsap Sun that voters should ignore the mailer. He's not running, and he's backing Democrat FitzPatrick.
"This is a clear deception tactic," he told the Kitsap Sun.
