Police Talk Man Down From Tacoma Narrows Bridge
Eastbound SR 16 over the Tacoma Narrows was closed for about an hour Tuesday as police talked to a suicidal person.

Update: as of 7:45 p.m., all eastbound lanes across the bridge had reopened.
GIG HARBOR, WA - A tense situation on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Tuesday night turned out well. A person had climbed up on the cables of the bridge threatening to jump, according to Washington State Patrol spokeswoman Brooke Bova. A negotiator from Tacoma police was able to talk the person off the bridge.
Washington State Patrol officers closed eastbound SR 16 over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Tuesday night around 7 p.m. Delays quickly stacked up into Gig Harbor. Around 7:30 p.m., police reopened two eastbound lanes, relieving delays.
