I am still glowing in the aftermath of the Seahawks win at the Super Bowl, and being asked to work EMS at the Victory Parade on Wednesday. If you have never seen close to a Million people in one place, I have to say it was quite an experience.
During a recent First Aid class I specifically referenced "Breathing Emergencies" at house events, like Holiday celebrations, and house parties. I put a special emphasis on the "Super Bowl" as a prime setting for choking; not Manning, but a party guest.
As it turns out one Covington family had their worst fears realized when their 3-year-old daughter choked on a meatball Sunday during a Superbowl party. The parents credit the quick-thinking actions of a guest with saving that child's life, a week after the guest renewed her CPR certification (full story).
Now is the time to pick up these vital life saving skills or refresh the skills you already have.
