Do you think if you vote yes twice you will get everything that was promised? You may not. If funds run short, the least important items (as determined by the Board) will be taken off the list, will that be the improvements to the Key Peninsula Schools? Will it be a fancy new school and Artondale gets a make over?I strongly urge you to read the propositions. Read what they actually say... Did you know that if one passes and they don't spend all the money, they have the option of spending it on other things that you did not approve of? "If the Board determines that it has become impractical to accomplish any of such Improvements or portions thereof by reason of state or local circumstances, including changed conditions, imcompatible development, lack of additional state funding, or costs substantially in excess of those estimated, the District shall not be required to accomplish such Improvements". "If available funds are in excess of the amount required to complete the Improvements the balance of such funds MAY be used to pay the principal of or interest on the Bonds, thereby reducing the tax levies for debt service". Pay close attention, to the words it is MAY, not WILL.
The interest rate on the bond is NOT fixed, so the rate will be whatever it is when they sell a bond, this means that the interest rate could be higher than anticipated and your taxes will be too.
I said I would support a REASONABLE Bond, but this isn't reasonable. To go from 48-50 million dollars to a minimum of 56 million, a maximum of 62 million just doesn't make sense to me. I was told by both Mr. Gallinger and the Superindent that 48 million was more than enough to do what they wanted in the November election. That there was NO WAY it would cost more, they had built in enough to cover any shortages. Not 9 months later, the price went up by 7 to 14 million dollars. Seriously? I am going to vote no on the bond AND no on the levy (again). Someone needs to come up with a plan that doesn't include yet another huge increase.
