Water to Wine to Close Its Doors
The wine retailer, known for its international selection of affordable, premium and exclusive wines, has become the latest Gig Harbor business to fall victim to the economic downturn.
, located at the foot of Peacock Hill Avenue, has become the latest Gig Harbor business to fall victim to the economic downturn. After 10 years in operation, the wine retailer will close its doors at the end of this month.
The shop’s inventory of affordable, premium and exclusive wines, as well as its equipment and fixtures are all up for sale between now and the Jan. 31 closing date. It will be leasing its current location at 9014 Peacock Hill Ave. and the space next door through Lisa Tallman at First Western Properties in Tacoma.
Owner Steve Lynn attributed Water to Wine’s closing to the poor economy, which had continued to depress sales.

“When the community can’t be there to support your business, you have to make difficult decisions,” he said.
Lynn has been the owner of Water to Wine since the beginning of January 2009, when he bought out his partner, . The two had owned the shop together since the summer of 2005.
