• Domestic Violence Assault Suspect Arrested After Standoff In Kelso (kxl.com) — A domestic violence suspect wanted by Longview police was tracked into Kelso early Monday using the city's license plate reader cameras, leading to a standoff at a home on N 1st Avenue. With help from multiple agencies and the Lower Columbia SWAT team, officers contained the area until the man surrendered and was booked into Cowlitz County Jail on several serious charges.
   

• Amtrak's new Airo trains launch Sept. 30 on the Cascades route (thenewstribune.com) — Train riders in Kelso will soon see brand-new Amtrak Airo trains on the Cascades route starting Sept. 30, with multiple daily trips stopping in town. The upgraded cars promise more seats, better accessibility, faster Wi‑Fi, and a refreshed café, all funded through federal infrastructure dollars and aimed at making rail a more comfortable, reliable option across Washington and Oregon.
