8 Back To School Reminders From LWSD

From LWSD: Welcome to the 2018-19 school year in Lake Washington School District (LWSD).
“I want to extend a warm welcome as we anticipate a great start on September 4,” said Dr. Stavem, Superintendent. “We are excited about the new school year and look forward to helping every student learn, achieve and succeed! Whether you are just starting your first year or returning to the district, we are honored and proud to serve you.”
Several important changes will begin in 2018-19, and it is important that everyone be ready. Here are eight things families should know or do before the start of the school year:

1. First Day of School/Calendar
- September 4 will mark the first day of school for all students in grades 1-12.
- September 7 is the first day for Kindergarten students.
- September 10 is the first day for Ready Start/Head Start preschool.
- September 18 is the first day of SNAPS preschool.
You can find LWSD calendars here: www.lwsd.org/calendars. There is a page-per-month version, a one-page version and the online calendar. Families can filter the online calendar for their school and set up feeds or alerts.

2. Changes to Start/End Times
In March 2018, LWSD announced that school start and end times would change in the 2018-19 school year, as a seven-period day is implemented for high school students. You can find your school’s exact start and end times here: www.lwsd.org/schools/school-hours.
3. Registration
If you are new to LWSD and have not yet registered your child for school, please do so as soon as possible. Visit your local school during office hours to register. For more information about the registration process, visit www.lwsd.org/students-families/registration.
4. Verify Your Child’s Information Online
Families of registered students can visit Skyward Family Access to verify their child’s information. You can even use the Skylert tab inside of Skyward Family Access to verify what phone number we should call during an emergency. 5. Bus Route and School Information
If your child is eligible for transportation, you should receive a postcard in the mail with your bus route information (bus stop and approximate pick-up/drop-off times). You can also visit the School and Bus Finder to determine your schools and/or bus route information. Read more about transportation, including safe walking routes, here:www.lwsd.org/bus.
6. School Supply Lists
Each elementary and middle school has a list of supplies it recommends for students. You can find all the school supply lists here: www.lwsd.org/school-supplies.
7. Breakfast and Lunch Menus
