9 Families Displaced After Kirkland Apartment Fire, Cause Under Investigation
Firefighters from Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond, Woodinville, and Bothell responded to the large fire early Saturday morning.

KIRKLAND, WA - City officials are providing new details about a fire that partially destroyed an apartment building early Saturday morning. The fire displaced nine families, sent one person to the hospital with burns, and resulted in the death of a dog. Despite the size of the fire, firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in about 15 minutes.
The fire broke out around 3:30 a.m. at the Forbes Creek Apartments along 113th Court Northeast. A resident of the complex alerted others living there to evacuate when the fire broke out. Firefighters from Kirkland's Station 21 arrived first, and had to call for a second alarm.
Aside from the burn victim and the dog, one cat was rescued, but two others are reported missing. The apartment complex were making other empty units available to the families displaced by the fire.

Firefighters from Bellevue, Bothell, Woodinville and Redmond assisted with the fire response. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
