• More major highway construction across the Puget Sound region Sept. 25-28 (myedmondsnews.com) — Drivers in Kirkland should prepare for a full closure of the I-405/Northeast 132nd Street interchange and all southbound I-405 lanes from Bellevue to Renton Sept. 25–28, with signed detours in place. Expect heavier congestion on local streets, longer travel times, and changing conditions as WSDOT crews complete drainage, pavement, and lane-striping work during this construction window.
   

• Bus route changes, improvements for University of Washington, college campus connections (kingcountymetro.blog) — Kirkland riders will see improved transit links as DART Route 249 now connects South Kirkland with Bellevue's new 2 Line stations, while broader Metro and Sound Transit changes strengthen bus and train access to UW Seattle and Bothell. Updated routes, schedules, and transfer points aim to make it easier for students, staff, and commuters across King County to reach campuses and key hubs.
