1. Watch Promo Reel: 'The ASU Frat Leader and Nikita Tyukalo Collide at a Kirkland House Party' publishes at Midnight (thejournal425.com) — Kirkland police responded in May to a suspicious late-night house party on 134th Avenue NE, where teens reported a troubling entry "screening" and officers later encountered a man tied to an indicted Bellevue human-trafficking suspect. The full story, promised at midnight, aims to explain what officers found inside, how minors were allegedly targeted, and what this means for neighborhood safety and party-house rentals in Kirkland.
2. A story told in metal (tulalipnews.com) — Lake Washington Institute of Technology's Kirkland campus now features a striking 13-foot metal orca sculpture, "Snoqualmie Pass," anchoring the new Center for Design and Event Center. Created by Tulalip artist James Madison, the piece brings a Coast Salish story into students' daily lives while highlighting LWTech's growing creative and technical programs that serve Kirkland and surrounding Eastside communities.
3. Try Hockey For Free Continues to have Success in Seattle as the Sport Becomes More Popular In The City (usahockey.com) — Youth and adult hockey players in Kirkland can look forward to a new Kraken-built iceplex opening next fall, adding two more sheets of ice for local programs. The team's Try Hockey For Free days and Learn to Skate pipeline are drawing dozens of Seattle-area kids, especially girls, into the sport, helping fuel demand for the upcoming Kirkland facility and expanding access to affordable hockey.
4. Amazon Hits 1,000 Sat Milestone; Blue Origin Bolsters Sat Manufacturing (satellitetoday.com) — Amazon's satellite factory in Kirkland has now produced more than 1,000 LEO satellites, enough to support the company's initial broadband service rollout later this year. While hundreds of satellites await launch slots, Amazon says production is no longer the bottleneck. Blue Origin, also owned by Jeff Bezos, is separately expanding satellite manufacturing with a massive new facility planned in Texas.
