Kirkland Women Form New Eco-Friendly Company: EcoPet Waste Systems™

KIRKLAND, Wash. -December 2012 –Kirkland based EcoPet Waste Systems is proud to announce the launch of a new line of products for the eco-friendly pet owner which includes our DooKaddy™ and DooKashi™ culture mix.

The DooKaddy (receptacle above) is made from galvanized steel and is buried in the ground. Dog waste is collected and deposited into it. DooKashi, containing EM-1 ® Effective Microorganisms ® is then applied to immediately eliminate odor and begin rapidly metabolizing dog waste into a compost-like product safe for the soil. This process benefits the environment by decreasing the number of plastic bags filled with dog waste dumped into landfills.

In addition, DooKashi culture mix can be used for cats as a kitty litter extender and immediate odor eliminator. DooKashi is made based on the concept of Bokashi, a Japanese agricultural term meaning “fermented organic matter”. EM-1®, the world’s leading microbial inoculant, is a probiotic liquid containing a certified combination of co-existing microbes as its active ingredient. Fermenting EM-1® organic solution with wheat and rice bran makes compost-like DooKashi ™ that when applied, reduces harmful pathogens and disease-producing microbes found in dog and cat waste.

EcoPet Waste Systems uses only authentic, original EM-1® discovered in 1982 by Dr. Teruo Higa and exclusively distributed in the US and Canada by TeraGanix,® Inc. under license from EMRO USA.

About EcoPet Waste Systems

EcoPet Waste Systems is a new Kirkland, WA based company founded by Kristin Adams and Nancy DeMond who have lived and worked in Kirkland over 20 years.  Inspired to find a different more effective way to dispose of pet waste, Adams and DeMond created the DooKaddy™ receptacle and DooKashi Culture Mix™. DooKashi is made with EM-1® Effective Microorganisms ® and based on Bokashi, a Japanese agricultural word meaning “fermented organic matter”. This process has proven to be very effective in treating dog waste, eliminating odor from kitty litter as well as friendly towards our planet.
