Art Walk Youth Series; Juanita Friday Market

Things you might want to know today, Friday, Aug. 12, 2011.

  • This morning’s sunrise is at 6:01 and tonight’s sunset is at 8:27 -- our daylight hours are really waning!
  • The moon is almost full. It reaches its fullest tomorrow, but will be plenty big tonight too. If skies are clear, you can see it rising in the east after sunset.
  • Check out one of two weekly Kirkland bazaars at the Juanita Friday Market, 3-7 p.m at  (the other is the Wednesday Market downtown) The market includes fresh produce, various artistic wares and free arts and crafts for the kiddies. Pick up some local, organic groceries for dinner or a beautiful bouquet for your office. The market features live entertainment in the musical stylings of Dina Blade from 3-5 and the Almond Buds from 5-7.
  • Take advantage of our culturally rich downtown at the Kirkland Art Walk from noon to 8 p.m. at galleries downtown (mostly on Park Lane). This month’s art walk is the Young Artist Series, highlighting the works of local teen artists. The cost? Free. Come on down, take a stroll in the sun and support the creative endeavors of Eastside youth.
